Welcome back dear starlings. They are sitting on my balcony and singing. Soon they will built a nest – as they did last year. Gosh its so hard to take a good picture of a really dark bird.

Wrong Place
This grey heron appears to have missed his nest. The choosen “partner” dont really seem to approve. Currently there are 8 pairs of herons breeding in the reed of karow.

Cormorant
A cormorant visited my in Schlosspark Charlottenburg while I was waiting for a kingfisher to appear. (But he didn´t came.).
Starting Swan
The swan swom out of a small canal on the big river “spree” – looked around – and started on the big runway.
Nuthatch
A nuthatch from the Schlosspark Charlottenburg. Pics were taken on 2 different days. Nuthatchs can walk overhead and climb in any position. They re-use old woodpicker holes but make the entry alot smaller by using a “glue” of spittle and mud.
Kestrelness
OR.. Female Kestrel. Falconerin… You get the idea. Because the most falcon pics in my Blog are of tercels.
In German its just “Weib”.
Cormorants
Cormorants are somewhat hard to take pictures of. There are rather shy in my area so you cant get close to them. Additionally they are mostly black, which is hard to take pics of, too. Currently I really try to take pics of then.The first one on the top is in the late evening at Lake Tegel in Berlin.
Cormorants are really good at diving for fish.
Tree Sparrow
What a small fluffball. Good that they are making alot of noise, otherwise i just had walked past them.
Kladow – Berlin
Kladow, a small village between Berlin and Brandenburg is a perfect breeding spot for cormorants. They just started to fight for the nests and get a partner. I didnt see much of them yet, but I guess there will be more to see in the next weeks. Hopefully with good weather. The place has more than just them. I guess I go a little bit wild on the sun reflection from the Water ;)
Sniff Sniff
An European roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) sniffing around. Maybe it wind me, but maybe its just interested were the best food is. This was a small group of 3 animals crossing the field on the Area of the Schönerlinder Lakes in Berlin. I was laying on the ground where I was shooting white and great egrets. But – why not? You take what you get, right?

Good Evening
A very cold evening at the former Tempelhofer Airfield. Swarms of hooded crow came together to feed, sleep and enjoying the very last shafts of sunlight. Roughly 250 birds come together to fill the trees around.
25 Years
25 Years ago the Wall between West and East Berlin fell. And so did the seperation of Germany.
During the Last Days the “Berlin Wall” was rebuilt in form of 8000 glowing Ballons at a total distance of 15km. The Baloons were released in the sky.
Autumn is leaving
Short visit of autumn this year. Already leaving us. We had a long summer, though.

Its slightly different illuminated during the Festival of Lights in Berlin, an Event where lots of buildings around Berlin are illuminated by colors, images and animations. Its a free festival which takes place every year for around 2 Weeks.
Morning Kestrel
